- Obtain your books well in advance.
Ensure you acquire your books early so that you have ample time to prepare your own notes for the exams. I strongly advise students to create their notes from scratch, and starting early is crucial to developing a well-prepared set of notes.
- Focus solely on the NCA syllabus.
Avoid incorporating foreign legal concepts from other countries where you may have studied law. Stick strictly to the materials outlined in the NCA syllabus and disregard any additional knowledge. Depending on your jurisdiction (especially if you were accustomed to closed-book exams), you might even need to let go of your previous exam writing techniques. You can refer to my previous posts on using the IRAC method.
- Engage in social networking groups to discuss the NCA process with peers or experienced individuals.

- Establish and adhere to a consistent study schedule.
This tip is particularly crucial for NCA students who are either working full-time or have family and children to care for. Find a regular time that allows you to focus on your exams without interruption.
- Find a peaceful study space.
This advice is especially important for NCA candidates with young children. Locate a designated area either within your home or outside, where you can study without being interrupted for up to an hour at a time. For some, this might involve visiting the local library or studying during nighttime when the children are asleep.
