Attention recent NCA and LL.B graduates (or soon-to-be-graduates)! First of all, congratulations on completing (or nearly completing) your legal studies! You've put in a lot of hard work to reach this point, and you deserve to give yourself a pat on the back, maybe even take a short vacation!
However, I have some news, both good and bad, to share with you...
While you've worked diligently over the past months and years, your journey isn't quite over yet. But, you were probably already aware of that, right?
If you are studying law abroad, you might feel slightly disconnected from the recruitment frenzy happening here in Canada. Unlike Canadian law students who have the assistance of their school's career center to navigate articling deadlines and other qualification requirements, International Law Students and NCA Candidates often need to figure things out on their own. And there's quite a bit to figure out!
Now, for the good news! To ensure you don't miss a thing, I've prepared an extremely comprehensive calendar of deadlines and activities you should be prepared for from February 2020 until January 2021! This calendar will guide you through various tasks, such as refining your resume and getting ready for Summer Associate/Articling Applications, NCA registration, Clerkship applications, and Law Society Licensing deadlines.
While many of the dates provided pertain to the Ontario recruitment scene, most major law firms across Canada adhere to similar timelines. In summary, this calendar is a valuable starting point for anyone seeking to enter the Canadian legal market. However, I advise you to confirm dates with your local law society as well!
Best of luck in your future endeavors!
