Which NCA elective exam should you choose: Property, Contracts, Civil Procedure, Torts, Tax, or Commercial?
This is a significant question, and the best answer depends on your objectives. Some students may seek to opt for the "easiest" elective, but determining which exams are easier can be subjective and challenging. The level of difficulty may vary based on individual preferences and interests. Students might find a subject they enjoy more to be easier to study than one they dislike. Therefore, we recommend using an objective criteria to narrow down your subject of interest.
Consider selecting an area of law you aspire to practice in the future.
If you have a particular field of interest, why not choose that subject now? It will give you the opportunity to explore and assess whether you genuinely enjoy the area, preventing potential challenges later on.
Choose a subject that aligns with your preparation for the bar exams.
If you are planning to take the Ontario barrister and solicitor exams, the BC bar exams, or CPLED, it's advisable to opt for topics that overlap with the content in those exams. For example, the Ontario barrister exam heavily covers Civil Litigation, and much of this subject can be covered by studying for the NCA civil procedure exam.
